Understanding and planning for the unknown is daunting for the best of us, we are offering you resources to assist you in gaining information and obtaining tools to support your family in planning for subject selection for years 11 and 12 and then the transition from school into the next phase. With a series of specialised yet brief clips, we aim to provide you with the information you need to increase your understanding and to engage your child in meaningful discussions.
Guiding Your Child Through Subject SelectionSecondary Students will make their subject selections for years 11 and 12 in year 10. This can often be a stressful time for students and also for parents who are trying to help their children to make choices that are the beginning of their transition into life after school. Kathryn Taylor is an expert in this field and has recorded a brief video that will give parents the tools to have conversations with their children about subject selections. Make sure you watch this video before you discuss subject selection with your year 10 child! Also useful for parents of children in years 7, 8 & 9 in understanding your child's strengths and learning style.

How to Engage Your Child in Career DiscussionsStarting the discussion is often the challenge in planning for life after school, in this 20 minute session we focus on when is the best time to commence discussions and how to get the conversation started. Whether your child is clear on their path or is not interested in the conversation, we will offer you tips and suggestions to support you in connecting with your child and so commencing post school planning with your child. This short video is a must see for parents starting the journey with their children around what direction they want to go in after school. Particularly suitable for years 10, 11 and 12 but also for years 7, 8 and 9 if you want to start conversations about subject selection.

Post School Options - Career Pathways Offering you a logical approach to understanding and assessing possible post school pathways, this 20 minute session will assist parents in understanding possible options for their child and provide a useful tool to support conversations with senior students around starting their career journey. Providing breadth to the options whilst connecting potential short and long term choices for your family. If you are finding all of the post school options overwhelming, watch this video as a starting point to get your head around the opportunities available for your child.
